Increase in common respiratory illnesses
Respiratory infections such as influenza (flu) and COVID-19 are increasing in Victoria. This year, this is occurring later than previous seasons.
Vaccines are available to protect against common respiratory infections.
Seasonal influenza vaccination is still available at the clinic, as well as COVID-19 vaccines, and with cases now increasing, it is not too late to get vaccinated.
Some people, including young children, older adults and those with a weakened immune system, are at increased risk of severe disease.
Early antiviral treatments can help to reduce severe disease from flu and COVID-19 for some high-risk individuals.
Simple hygiene and preventive measures like covering coughs and sneezes, regular hand washing and staying home when sick can help reduce the spread of respiratory infections

Mostyn Street Clinic
Mostyn Street Clinic is a long-established general practice serving the Mount Alexander Shire, located in Castlemaine, Victoria. With a rich history dating back to 1862, our clinic has been a cornerstone of the community for over a century.
Our team of experienced doctors, nurses, and receptionists are dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare for individuals of all ages. We offer a range of services including women’s and men’s health, child and adolescent care, chronic condition management, skin cancer surveillance and management and palliative care.
Unfortunately, we are not currently taking on new patients (except for obstetrics).

Mostyn Street Clinic is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for our staff and patients. We understand that health concerns can sometimes be stressful. However, we kindly request that all patients treat our staff with respect. Abusive behavior, including shouting, swearing, or threats, will not be tolerated. In such instances, we may need to end the appointment or ask you to leave the premises, which could affect your ability to book future appointments.
